My trip to Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar is sadly over. I had the absolute best time and it is up there with one of my favorite trips so far this year. I only plan to be home for a few days and then I am off on my next adventure – to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Travelling to these 2 countries is driven by one of my original goals for this year – to travel and explore the Silk Road.

My journey will start in the modern capital of Kazakhstan – Astana. We will then fly to Turkestan and explore the historical ruins of Shymkent. An overnight train will take us to the old capital of the country – Almaty. And from here we will start to explore the stunning and mountainous landscapes of Kyrgyzstan, via the major cities of Bishkek and Osh. Eventually we will cross the border into the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan. This is where I will depart my Intrepid small-group tour and be picked up for a short private tour of this lesser-travelled part of Uzbekistan, an area with a long history in the production of Ikat silk and pottery and an important route along the Silk Road. I have set this private trip up through my tour guide of my previous trip earlier this year to Uzbekistan.
I loved my trips to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan so I am looking forward to heading back to Central Asia for 3 weeks of adventure.
