Day 13 (9th August 2025)

As we slowly made our way out of the Serengeti on penultimate game drive of the trip we came across three huge male lions – brothers. They were on the move, slowly walking in a line across the open grassland. They would occasionally stop, survey the land around them and mark their territory. They had likely been out patrolling last night and were now on their way back to join their pride. The wind was quite strong and it meant the lions huge manes were swept back making them look like they were posing for a hair conditioning advert.

We followed the three brothers for about 15 minutes as they slowly moved along the edge of the road. We would pull ahead of them 100 meters or so, stop, and then watch them approach us. And then repeat a further 100 meters down the road. Eventually, they pulled off the road, setting off into the grassland and slowly disappeared into the distance. This was the closest we got to male lions who were active and walking around, which made a brilliant end to our time in the Serengeti.
